I just take the Prawn suit which I love using on land. For the personal challenge, I usually just do it by foot because I enjoy the experience. All of it is an interesting form of game play, in my humble opinion.Īnd certainly, you can build a prawn suit to simply walk across the tundra. I think the above ground exploration was supposed to reflect that kind of agoraphobic exploration, with some respite depending on the weather.Īs well, you can also temporarily hide in caves to wait out the storms, or plant beacons to help navigate, or build a temp base to ride things out. In reviewing some of the cut content from SN, that looked to be one of the main things to enhance the fear factor (as well as the design decision to have something like the headlamp). I don't think I said it was a positive thing only that it reflected deep exploration. I also don't appreciate getting lost in that stupid maze. There's nothing interesting or challenging about that. It sucks when I can't see where I'm going. Originally posted by Andreas:And that it's 'opaque' is not something positive. It's just so amazing when you have explorable space above and below and not just left and right. Obviously, that's completely missing from land exploration. What I love about deep sea exploration is the fluid movement in three dimensions. You just take the Prawn and ignore everything.Īnd that it's 'opaque' is not something positive. I know that my opinion is not shared with many of you, but I just wanted to offer my own perspective to this thread. Applying what I know of how to avoid dangers in the ocean to avoiding dangers on the surface proved to be a fascinating dichotomy to me. There are ways to avoid the danger, there are ways to navigate it, the atmosphere can be just as opaque to our senses as similarly deep ocean areas. It just ties the terror and danger of the deep ocean to our own native subjective view. Originally posted by jonnydoh:I like the land exploration.
